FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

FORMER UK WOMEN’S HOOPS COACH MATTHEW MITCHELL LAUNCHES NEWEST VENTURE: THE WINNING TOOLS COACHING PROGRAM

THE 3-TIME SEC COACH OF THE YEAR CREATED A PLATFORM AND BOOKS DESIGNED TO CREATE AND TRANSFORM LEADERS

Matthew Mitchell has begun the next chapter of his coaching career by launching The Winning Tools coaching program.

Mitchell, the former three-time Southeastern Conference Coach of the Year for the University of Kentucky’s women’s basketball team, has created the platform, which includes executive coaching, keynote speaking, in-person and virtual workshops, a video course, two books and Luxury Leadership Experiences (LLE) designed to transform members into decision-making leaders like Mitchell.

Mitchell just held his first LLE at The Greenbrier Resort in West Virginia, where it highlighted his second book, “Ready To Win – How Great Leaders Succeed Through Preparation.” That book will be released on Nov. 19, 2024.

“We are hoping these experiences will give people access to unique, high-end experiences plus leadership development,” Mitchell said. “We are excited about this new offering in our business.

Mitchell’s first book, “Winning Tools,” was a Wall Street Journal Best-Seller and includes a foreword from John Maxwell. The book reveals three key principles that build purpose, respect and success.

“My 20-year track record as a high-level leader and successful college basketball coach will impact high-achieving, high-aspirational organizations of any kind,” Mitchell said.

Mitchell, 53, decided to retire from Kentucky in November 2020 after becoming the program’s all-time wins leader.

Mitchell, the youngest of four brothers, said he’s always been a coach. He was always tagging along with his older siblings to their sporting events and competed against kids his senior. He became an Eagle Scout and was always one of the youngest patrol leaders in his Boy Scouts groups.

Mitchell began as a high school coach, then hustled his way to a women’s basketball coaching role at Tennessee when legendary coach Pat Summitt saw his will and grit at a summer hoops camp. He was hired at Kentucky at just 36 years old and then had to figure out a way to beat Summitt – and the other elite coaches in the SEC. During his tenure at UK, Mitchell was 303-133.

Mitchell, who said he’s “a man of very deep faith” who asks for guidance daily, said leading the new company makes him “excited and happy.”

“I’m looking forward to coaching people outside of basketball,” he said. “This is a huge part of my life.

“I feel that this is an extension of coaching. I always felt like basketball was my classroom or laboratory for helping people reach their potential and becoming their best. We always prioritized coaching the total person, and we feel passionate about helping people live life better.”
