Women of Influence: Mickie DeMoss

In the journey of leadership, mentors play a pivotal role in shaping our skills and perspectives. As we approach International Women’s Day on March 8th, I want to introduce you to four women on the blog this month who have left an unforgettable impact on my life. Mickie DeMoss stands out as a beacon of guidance and influence — taking a chance on me at a time when I certainly wasn’t meeting my full potential.

Mickie DeMoss saw potential in me that not many other people saw. She gave me opportunities that others didn’t. She took the time to teach me skills that made an enduring, positive impact on my life and leadership.

Mickie DeMoss, a renowned figure in basketball coaching, not only recognized my potential but also invested in my development in ways that continue to show up today. One of the most significant lessons I learned from her was the power of preparation. Coach DeMoss instilled in me a disciplined approach to readiness, emphasizing that success on the court and in leadership roles stems from meticulous preparation behind the scenes.

Under her mentorship, I grasped the importance of thorough planning, strategic thinking, and relentless preparation. These lessons went beyond the basketball court, shaping my philosophy on leadership and guiding my approach to coaching. Mickie DeMoss’s belief in my capabilities and her dedication to nurturing my skills not only empowered me as a student of the game, but also fueled my drive to excel.

As I continue to try to be a difference-maker using my coaching and leadership principles, Mickie DeMoss’ investment in my life shows up all of the time. Her mentorship serves as a testament to the transformative impact of investing in others and nurturing their potential.

Join us this March as we continue to celebrate the influential women who have shaped my journey. Stay tuned for more insights into their profound impact on my career and leadership philosophy.
